Slaine rocks as Loverboy, and the girls of Girl House keep the audience at attention at all times. One of the true strengths of the film is Slaine’s portrayal of the killer, Loverboy. In a role that offers very little spoken dialogue, Slaine manages to convey all the painful emotion bottled up within this character and even makes him sympathetic at times. Ben, together with Kylie's friend Liz Owens, finds the house's real address and races there. The girls of the house have free rein over what they choose to do (or show) in the house, though incentives are in place for the girls who bring in the most traffic. It eventually culminates with Loverboy, who’s been disrespected by several of the girls, breaking into the house where he exacts murderous revenge, Halloween-style. The house’s newest resident/employee is the comely co-ed Kylie (Ali Corbin), desperately in need of extra money while putting herself through college.
Injured, Loverboy overpowers and begins to strangle her, but she ends up clubbing him to death with the camera. Loverboy kills Steve at the security gatehouse, then strangles Anna. From his dorm room, Alex watches in horror as Loverboy mutilates Devon's face with a small knife and chops off all her fingers with an axe. Alex alerts Ben, who calls 911 and tries to warn Kylie but in vain, as Loverboy jams incoming and outgoing communications. The women in Girl House are annoyed with Loverboy, who continually asks for Kylie, and start making fun of him.
There are some fantastic special effects in the kill scenes that really add flavor to the movie up through the exciting finale. That’s not to say that Girl House is a completely unique experience. But it does bring enough fresh ideas to the table to grab the audience’s attention and make them take notice. Feeling rejected and humiliated, he attacks the antagonistic girl with no remorse which reveals that Loverboy is harboring some deep evil. This was a nice set up for the killer to show his need for acceptance from women, as well as his fear of being sexually frustrated. Many of the other characters, including the lead Kylie, have more layers than the typical slasher film. Many of the typical set ups used like jump scares or false attacks are shown but then quickly dropped to leave the viewer guessing what could happen next. The idea to have the attacks centered in a house filled with cameras felt reminiscent of Halloween Resurrection, but Girl House took the issues of that film and made them work.
Dying from blood loss, Gary is forced to watch Loverboy's rampage unfolding at the House. Loverboy’s main target is Kylie (although there is plenty of collateral damage along the way). And, after a misunderstanding, she enrages Loverboy, making him very difficult to get along with. Skillfully using the webcams as a big part of the story, director Matthews brings us a colorful onslaught by Loverboy on the Girl House that will indeed thrill the viewing audience.
Who finds herself in desperate need of money and, against her better judgment, taking up residence in Girl House. Girl House is the home of an X-rated website and Kylie is the latest performer. Girl House finds the pleasure of horror in these women's painful encounter with their masked on-looker - and for the ultimate self-referential viewing experience, this is best watched as video on demand. She then lures Loverboy to a darkened basement where she uses a video camera's night vision to help her stab him in the stomach with a pool stick.
